"Navigator" for Operating Rooms

30/10/2017

The Operating Rooms at the Ziv Medical Center, under the direction of Mr. Janan Nakhla, has recently received a generous donation enabling the purchase of 'The Navigator', a sophisticated instrument considered the latest of its kind for use in identifying a lymph gland which has previously been injected with isotopic material. It is a tool enabling the surgeon to make an informed decision as to whether or not a radical lymphadenectomy is necessary.

Once removed, the gland is then transferred to a pathological laboratory. Within a short time the surgical team is informed as to whether the results are positive, in which case a radical lymphadenectomy will be performed.

The device is designed for breast tumor surgery, detection of the lymph gland in the armpit region, for melanoma surgery, and for the treatment of malignant tumors in the vaginal area.
