Dr. Cohen Yuval has joined the Ophthalmology Department team at Ziv Medical Center

the Ophthalmology Department is now providing patients in the Galilee community with new services for children’s eye diseases

The pediatric clinic of the Ophthalmology Department will now provide comprehensive evaluation, and treatment for a wide range of eye and vision problems such as: treatment of eye misalignment, abnormal eye movement, lazy eye, poor visual function, and follow-up for less common pediatric eye conditions, such as, pediatric idiopathic intracranial pressure.   

Dr. Cohen will also provide exams in new borns for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and will treat patients, mostly premature infants, who develop a severe form of ROP that may lead to vision impairment and even blindness.

Dr. Cohen is a graduate of Ben-Gurion University Medical School in Be'er Sheva, specializing in ophthalmology at Assaf Harofeh Hospital. Dr. Cohen performed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Sheba Medical Center, and later in the USA at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia). He also holds a PhD in pharmacology and physiology from Tel Aviv University, where he conducted research on the development of myopia. Dr. Cohen has also conducted post-doctoral research in the biomedical laboratories of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Otzem Chasid, Director of Ziv's Ophthalmology Department, welcomed Dr. Cohen to the department, stating that he brings a vigorous spirit to the clinical, academic and research aspects of the department. "I greatly appreciate Dr. Cohen's dedication to the residents of the north who will finally be spared the need to travel to distant hospitals. Essential treatment and the best medical services are now available close to home".
Dr. Cohen says, "I am honored by the opportunity to be part of Ophthalmology Department during its expansion of new medical services. What matters most to me is working with the team. Together, we can perform meaningful and influential activities to promote medicine. I am happy to be here at Ziv Medical Center in the Galilee".
