Information for Patients

Dear Patient,

This information has been compiled to assist your family and yourself, while you are hospitalized at the Ziv Medical Center, with the hope that it will help you to go through the registration stage and hospitalization with ease and comfort.

1. If you have been summoned for an operation, you will most likely be invited to a "pre-operation" meeting in the department, where you will meet the surgeon and anesthetist, go through a number of tests and receive an additional explanation of the procedure you will have.

2. In most cases, you will be hospitalized on the actual day of the operation or procedure, but in some cases, you will be hospitalized on the day before. Hospitalization registration takes about two hours, it is therefore necessary that you arrive punctually on the hour written on the invitation you received.

3. When you arrive, please go directly to the registration office (located near the main entrance of the hospital), and bring the following documents with you:

  • Your I.D. card (if the patient is a minor, please bring one of the parent's I.D. cards in which the child is registered).
  • A financial commitment from your Kupat Holim (Health Fund) or cash. We will not be able to hospitalize you without first seeing to the financial aspects.
  • If you are a foreign resident and not a member of Kupat Holim, you must bring with you an alternative form of payment (cash, check or credit card), or a commitment letter from your insurance company.
  • If you have been requested to bring a blood donation, please bring confirmation from MDA regarding the blood donation.

4. Once you have completed the registration process, you may proceed to the hospitalization ward where you will be registered, receive a bed, pajamas and a first set of examinations.

5. You are required to bring with you basic equipment such as underwear, toiletries, slippers and a gown. If you have false teeth, glasses, a hearing aid, etc. it is important to give these to the ward nurse when you register in the ward.

6. A family member or care-taker is welcome to accompany and assist you during this process. During the doctor's examination, they will usually be asked to leave the room. If the patient is unable to explain his/her situation, is hard of hearing or speaks a language with which the staff is not familiar, please note this during registration in the ward and at the time of the doctor's visit.

7. You will be able to assist us in assisting you by adhering to the following regulations:

  • Ask your visitors to visit you only during visiting hours: Sun. – Thur. between 12:00 – 14:00 and 16:00 – 21:00
Consultation with a senior physician and nurse: 13:00 – 14:00 to be coordinated with the department secretary
Make sure that your visitors do not arrive in big groups which may disturb the other patients in your room.
  • As far as possible, it is best not to bring small children to visit.
  • Look after the hospital cleanliness and its property. Refrain from lengthy mobile phone calls and from smoking. Please note: smoking in all areas of the hospital is strictly forbidden!
  • Adhere to instructions of the hospital staff.

We wish you a comfortable stay and a speedy recovery.
